I want to pull on one thing this month: The Assault on Reason. I read, of course, Al Gore's The Assault on Reason, Richard Dawkins's The God Delusion, Damian Thompson's Counterknowledge, and Sarah Vowell's The Wordy Shipmates this month, and all of them had at least a little to do with the rise of Bad Ideas to prominence in our cultural-political sphere.

You know who personified that? Sarah Motherfucking Palin. You know who won't be our vice-president anytime soon? Sarah Motherfucking Palin.
