WTF?

David Lapham's Young Liars

I have an idea for a comic book. The main plot will involve: (1) a conspiracy involving evil spiders, (2) incest, (3) circus freak fetishes, (4) lots of references to Rock 'n Roll, and (5) dismemberment. Every few issues there will be an issue dedicated to obscure David Bowie references and even more fucked up sexual predilections.

Oh, wait, this has already been done. It's David Lapham's absolutely insane Young Liars.

I have virtually nothing cogent to say about this book. It's beyond bizarre. I remember reading The Invisibles, and thinking, gee, comics can't get much more weird than this. I was wrong. The difference: Invisibles was genius; Liars is, well, not.

Not that I'm saying it's bad. It's just a little hard to read: there's only so much clown-sex I can take. That note seems to be as good as any on which to end.
