Blogging, Irresponsibly II

Meena Hasan
Here.

I would be finishing my now overdue paper, were it not for the fact that I am supposed to be working. Alas, The Grape never gets its shit together in a timely way, so, here I am, writing a blog entry, waiting to have something to copy edit, and wondering how many pages I'll be able to write before I pass out from exhaustion.

Furthermore, as I have moved out of my room and have begun squatting at a friend's place sans internet, I have been unable to post until now. This may be a good thing.

Last post, I featured a photo of 75,000 people at an Obama rally in Oregon. A--shall we say--interesting argument coming from some of the OBAMA IS EVIL crowd is that they were really there for the indie band The Decemberists.

Don't get me wrong; The Decemberists are a good band. But 75,000 people good? Really? I don't think they get play outside of wah-wah college radio stations and a brief apperence on The Colbert Report. But, even ignoring that bit of idiocy, here's a particularly special moment from The Weekly Standard's Michael Goldfarb:

Hugh also notes that The Decemberists typically open their shows with what I'm sure is a stirring rendition of the Soviet national anthem. No word on whether they opened the Obama rally with such a performance, but I'm certain our trusted media would have reported it if they did.

I think rumor-mongering sounds fun. Let me try:

[Random person who doesn't know what he/she is talking about] say that Michael Goldfarb eats puppies. No word on whether he did so this morning, but I'm certain our trusted media would have reported it if he did.

How's that sound?
