As you can see, I'm still having fun with my Adobe CS. And, also as you can see, I'm still loving Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol.
It's really hard not to love a story where they kill God who also happens to be Jack the Ripper who is trapped in "heaven" and is only let out every hundred years and wants to "create" using the flayed body parts of prostitutes. Obviously.
Seriously, though, I just wanted to add a little something to my last post (here). This is Grant Morrison:
"In these days of angst-ridden mutants and gritty realistic (yawn) urban vigilantes, the Doom Patrol no longer seem quite as extreme as they did back in 1963, but I'm sure that some of you reading this can still recall the genuine frisson that accompanied those early stories. back in the '60s, when DC super-heroes still sported right-angled jawlines and Boy Scout principles, the Doom Patrol slouched into town like a pack of junkyard dogs with a grudge against mankind...
"Remember when all the other kids on the block had Superman and Batman as positive role models? Well, if you could only identify with a human brain in a metal body or a guy wrapped up in bandages, and if you grew up weird, welcome home. Your among friends now."
In an unrelated matter, I'm going to be interviewed for a piece in the Oberlin Review about Oberliner. More to come. Also, for your sake and for mine, I'm going to start reading something else other than Doom Patrol. Maybe. At least, I'll write a bit about something else.
